Grows in tropical and subtropical evergeen to semi-evergreen forests, often at 200 -1200m elevation. Prefers moist, well drained soils, commonly found along forested slopes and valleys.

Large evergreen tree, can reach 20-30m height with a straight bole.opposite, elliptic to oblong,leathery, dark green above and paler beneath.Flowers are small, white ,fragnant, borne in large panicles.

• Timber is strong,heavy and durable : used in construction , furniture and tools. Attractive evergreen with fragrant flower, suitable for parks and gradens. Leaves abd bark traditionaly used for trating fever, infections and inflammation. Provides food for birds and mammals that consume the fruits contributes to evergreen forest canopy stability.
