Wildlife Education Package for School Students

"Explore • Learn • Conserve" Our Objective To inspire young minds to understand, appreciate, and conserve the rich natural heritage of the Himalayas while fostering a lifelong commitment towards environmental stewardship and wildlife conservation. The Shimla Wildlife Division offers a comprehensive Himalayan Forest & Wildlife Education Package designed to provide school students with experiential learning opportunities in nature conservation, biodiversity, and environmental stewardship. The programme combines visits to the Shimla Water Catchment Wildlife Sanctuary, Himalayan Nature Park (Zoo), Kufri, Himalayan Bird Park, and Potter's Hill Conservation Reserve, creating a unique outdoor classroom amidst the natural landscapes of the Himalayas. Package Highlights 1. Shimla Water Catchment Wildlife Sanctuary Guided forest walks through Deodar and Oak forests. Understanding forest ecosystems, watershed conservation, and ecosystem services. Wildlife interpretation and identification of flora and fauna. Nature-based learning activities and biodiversity observation. 2. Himalayan Nature Park (Zoo), Kufri Educational exposure to native Himalayan wildlife species. Learning about wildlife conservation, rescue, rehabilitation, and captive management. Interactive sessions on threatened species and habitat conservation. Awareness about human-wildlife coexistence and conservation challenges. 3. Himalayan Bird Park Bird watching and identification of Himalayan avifauna. Understanding bird ecology, migration, nesting behaviour, and conservation. Awareness regarding the ecological importance of birds in maintaining healthy ecosystems. Photography and observation-based learning activities. 4. Potter's Hill Conservation Reserve Exploration of urban biodiversity and conservation reserve management. Interpretation of wildlife corridors and habitat connectivity. Nature trails focusing on ecosystem restoration and conservation practices. Environmental games, biodiversity monitoring, and citizen science activities.
