Pheasant

The Koklass Pheasant is a medium-sized, shy pheasant native to the temperate forests of the Himalayas, extending from Afghanistan through northern India, Nepal, Bhutan, and into western China. In Himachal Pradesh, it inhabits dense oak, deodar, pine, and mixed conifer forests at elevations ranging from approximately 1,500 to 4,200 metres. It is well adapted to steep, rugged mountain terrain and is most active during the early morning and late evening.
